New Local Authority Building Control Charging Regulations
From 6 November 2026, new regulations (The Building (Local Authority Charges and Amendments Relating to Charging) (England) Regulations 2026) come into force.
The charges allow local authorities to charge for new functions, including processing submissions from private Registered Building Control Approvers (RBCAs), compliance checks, and enforcement actions. Link to Gov.uk website for further info.
Any charges arising under these new Regulations are not included in London Building Control quotations. The client will remain responsible for the payment of any such charges, whether paid directly to the Local Authority or reimbursed to London Building Control where payment has been made on the client’s behalf.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Building control regulation fees and charges in the UK vary depending on your local council, the type of application, and the scale of the work.
- Local authorities are required to publish their updated charging schemes and annual statements online.
- These charges are set by the relevant Local Authority, not London Building Control.
- If you have any questions about the charges or how much you may need to pay, please contact your Local Authority Building Control Department directly.
